What we do:

We operate in the civil industry with strong convergence to the telecoms industry. We build trenches for telecoms and/ or utility operators for burial of services.

Buried services are safe, since most trenches are in road trenches, away from natural enemies such as sun and rain, but also from unnatural enemies such as thieves, vandalisms and other delinquents.

We provide a turnkey solution with very little input required from our customers.

We plan the routes in conjunction with the customer, then design the best solution, dig the trenches, install the service required by the customer in the shortest time currently available in South Africa.

Background:

MWNT was the first mechanised trenching company established in SA and is the only company in South Africa that has the economies of scale and strategic alliances to maintain its leadership in the market.

The company was established in 1999. In 2006 CMD Communications became a shareholder and a year later CIV became the major shareholder. MWNT laid 12km duct for Neotel in 2007 and in 2008 we signed an agreement with DFA for 1 200km metro duct laying over 3 years and 4 200km long haul duct laying over 3 years. The asset base of the company is in excess of R100m and is largely funded by ABSA. During 2008, delivery of 6 CleanFast machines from France & 1 City Trencher machine from Italy was taken along with all the support equipment acquired in South Africa. MWNT appointed two mechanised trenching and various hand-trenching sub-contractors in 2008.

We successfully implemented a 300km duct infrastructure for DFA in 2008.
